Carl was called to his Heavenly home after courageously living with cancer for over a decade. Born on June 7, 1928 in Manhattan on the Lower East Side to John Oreshnick, Sr. and Mary Kubis, Carl graduated Garfield High School in 1946 and subsequently served four years in the NJ Air National Guard at Fort Dix. Carl married Sophia Tuskevich on July 21, 1956 and they began their family the following year. Carl and Sophia fashioned a Christian lifestyle consistent with his enduring family values and steadfast commitment to raising a Christian family. Carl was baptized Russian Orthodox in early childhood and later found spiritual connection with the United Methodist Church within the communities where he lived throughout his lifetime (Newfoundland, NJ; Parachute, CO; Grand Junction, CO and South Ogden, UT). Carl worked in shipping for Hoffmann-La Roche Pharmaceuticals after having spent his late adolescence and early adulthood working in a family-operated small business. Amongst things Carl enjoyed were cross-country skiing, hiking, swimming, movie going, and (most of all) spending quality time with family and friends. Carl is remembered as a man of the highest integrity, one who was friendly and charitable to others, and will be deeply missed. Carl is survived by his two loving and devoted sons Carl Wayne Oreshnick (Grand Junction, CO) and Craig Allan Oreshnick (Ogden, UT). Preceding Carl in death were his beloved parents, brother John, and spouse Sophia. The family is thankful to all who assisted in compassionately caring for and comforting Carl during his final months including the staff at Quail Meadow Assisted Living, Aspen Ridge Home Health, and Pine View Transitional Rehab. Carl will be laid to rest at the City View Mortuary in Salt Lake City on Thursday, March 8 ^th following a family viewing and private graveside service. Although death ends a life, our relationship with Carl lives eternal. Carl (beloved spouse, father, and best friend) rest in peace and may God be with you always.
