He is predeceased by his parents, Naomi Middleton and Earnest Mitchell, his siblings, Eearlene Mitchell, Edward Mitchell, Vonda Middleton, Florence Sims, and Edwin Mitchell, and his grandparents, Zillie and Benjamin Hand.
Cornell was born in Utah on January 24, 1963, to Naomi Middleton and Earnest Mitchell. He graduated from high school. He was baptized in Calvary Baptist Church. His favorite football team was the Steelers. He watched every game, cheering passionately. His love for the Steelers was evident in his extensive memorabilia collection, including jerseys, keychains, and more. He loved gambling, dice, dominoes, and cards. "If he could make a dollar, he would." He was a well-known hustler. Music was his pastime: Bob Marley, Earth, Wind & Fire, gospel, all the classics.
Cornell was there for all he loved. He enjoyed cooking, bringing people together, and gatherings filled with laughter and delicious meals. He was an extrovert; stories shared and friendships blossomed. Home was his happy place, with Zen completing what home meant to him. He had a unique way of challenging you to be your best self. Cornell believed that honesty built stronger connections, and both family and friends cherished him for it. He always made you feel valued and appreciated. Whether it was through a kind word or a small gesture, Cornell's generosity knew no bounds, and he inspired those around him to embrace the same spirit of giving. He was known for his loyalty to friends and family, always offering support, encouragement, and a good fight. His friends, family, and everyone who knew him will deeply miss him.
