October 25, 1962 – June 28, 2025
Debbie Lockyer was born in San Francisco on October 25, 1962. She moved to Utah at a young age with her mother, Reta Pavich, and brother, Greg Pavich. Debbie quickly grew to love the community and remained in the Salt Lake City area for the remainder of her life.
She attended Lowell Elementary School, Bryant Middle School, and graduated from East High School. During her childhood, she cherished time spent visiting her mother's side of the family, spending days on her uncle's farm, and making memories with her cousins. Debbie fondly remembered her aunts and uncles who loved and supported her growing up. She had a gift for making friends wherever she went—many of whom became lifelong.
Debbie valued education deeply and earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Utah, graduating with honors. While she worked briefly in a hospital prior to college, she ultimately found her calling at the Utah Division of Child and Family Services. Debbie began her career as a caseworker and retired as a Contract Analyst. Her dedication, compassion, and strong work ethic touched the lives of countless children and families.
As a mother, Debbie gave her heart to her daughter, Brooke Lockyer. She created a warm, loving home filled with laughter, support, and care. She gave her all as a mother and her daughter is forever grateful for her. Family and friends were always her priority—she had an incredible ability to make everyone feel valued and loved.
Debbie's love for music was one of her defining joys. She spent countless hours listening to her favorite songs and attending concerts, finding connection through music with those she loved. She was also a talented cook, and her delicious recipes will continue to be made and cherished.
Even when faced with an unfair and difficult battle with cancer, Debbie remained strong and full of grace. Throughout her treatments, she continued to radiate strength, humor, and beauty. Time with family and friends became the highlight of her days, such as the moments shared with her daughter and her niece Audrey—trying new treats, enjoying nail days, and simply being together. Though she is no longer in pain, she leaves behind an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew her. Debbie will always be remembered as a loving, hilarious, thoughtful, and intelligent woman who brought light and laughter to every room she entered.
Debbie was truly a gift and light to this world, loved to pieces, and will be remembered and cherished forever.
