Obituary

Gilbert Lee was born March 17, 1968 on the Navajo Nation to his birth parents Lewis Lee and Irene Marshall, and raised by his adopted parents Andrew and Etta Lee in the Four Corners region of the USA. Gilbert acquired his grammar education from various schools in the area he grew up until graduating from Bloomfield High School, New Mexico, in June 1987. He worked briefly in the nearby oilfield industry before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in October 1988. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, was his primary duty station with the I Marine Expeditionary Force, 1st ANGLICO, whose deployments include Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Lance Corporal Gilbert Lee’s 6 year commitment to military service concluded honorably in October 1994.

Gilbert’s return to civilian life began in Central Florida where he briefly resided before returning home to Bloomfield, New Mexico in September 1995. His desire for success and a lifelong career ambition to become a truck driver eventually led him to Salt Lake City, Utah in August 1996, where he established his home. Gilbert Lee covered thousands upon thousands of miles across the entire country over several decades, but all roads always led him to his daughter Annika and 3 grandsons Channing, Kobyn and Nolan.

Gilbert leaves behind his wife Cita Lee. Daughter Annika Lee (Daniel Hardy). Grandsons Channing Beam, Kobyn Beam, Nolan Hardy. Sisters Shirlene Lee, Maelene Lee. Brother Michael Johnson. Adoptive Father Andrew Lee, siblings Andrea Thompson, Lolita Lee, Delrena Lee, Alvina Lee, Alton Lee and a host of other family and friends.

“The Marine Corps lives forever, and that means you live forever!”
