December 31, 1950 – April 3, 2023
On April 3rd, after a long drive home from a well deserved trip to Arizona, Greg decided to sleep in one last time.
Greg was born to Charles and Pat Waters in St. Joe, Missouri, but lived the majority of his life in the Salt Lake Valley, settling down in Woods Cross, Utah, and retiring from Chevron Refinery after 30 years.
To attempt to summarize the events of Greg's life between his birth and big snooze would take up the space of a large novel, if not a bestselling series so let's just say this; Greg lived his life with passion. He was an avid golfer who sought out any fairway no matter what part of the world he was in. He was an angler and outdoorsman who taught his three sons the value of nature and power bait. He loved golf. He inspired us all with a late life turn to cycling where he rode the highways and byways of Davis County and beyond, always pushing to see how fast he could go. He occasionally played golf. He was a fearless skier, who did not know or care about the meaning of double black diamonds. He enjoyed golfing. He was a sports fanatic especially where his alma mater The University of Utah was concerned. During the pandemic he and his beloved wife Connie became accomplished puzzle masters. There was no food too spicy for Greg, and no meal went without a request for deep fried jalapenos. My God did that man love to golf.
Greg was not a solitary man, he offered love and friendship to most anyone he shared a kind greeting with and he yearned to never be alone. If you ever needed a tool he had it or one of the kids had it.
Most importantly of all Greg loved his family. He loved spending summer days up at his property in the Manor Lands community in the Uintas, surrounded by as much family as he could muster. He loved big Christmas celebrations with family playing games and opening gifts. He loved traveling anywhere that would take him but especially with his wife Connie. Words cannot do justice to how much he loved sharing all of his adventures with her.
Greg, may you drive for show and putt for dough on greater greens than anything you experienced in waking life.
Rest in Peace.
He is preceded in death by Charles Waters, Charles' first wife Patricia and his second wife Rita.
He is survived by his wife Connie Young; his sister Linda (Kerry) Soat; his sons Hayden (Aimee) Waters, Collen (Rukmini) Waters and James (Emily) Waters; his stepdaughters Jodie (Brad) Gardner, Jamie (Erik) Grimsrud; his ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
