06 May Holly Ramona Sherwood
Holly Ramona Sherwood was born to Vicki Draper Hood and Alfred Rordame III on March 27, 1957, in Salt Lake City. She married Hardy Sherwood on September 17, 2005. She had five siblings, Alfred IV, Tammy, Rocky, Trudy, and Chrissy. She passed away on April 27, 2024. Holly was a life-long resident of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Holly was a most loving and devoted daughter to her parents, sister to her five siblings, wife to her husband, aunt to her nieces and nephews, and great aunt to her great nieces and great nephews. Holly had many admirable qualities one of which is that she was probably the most considerate person any of us know. She just about always was more concerned about the well being of others than her own well being.
Holly was a phenomenally gifted teacher, which was her principal passion. She decided to become an elementary school teacher when she was an elementary school student. She was always happy with that decision. Her teaching credentials included a Master of Education and endorsements for gifted/talented children, physical education including handicapped students, and English as a second language. Holly made a positive impact on the lives of many of her students.
Holly loved the outdoors and greatly enjoyed skiing, biking, and hiking. She loved Bear Lake where she spent countless hours with family and friends surrounded by nature’s beauty. When she retired from teaching elementary school, she became a ski instructor so that she could enjoy two of her passions, teaching and skiing.
Holly had unlimited energy. For example, each day before work she was at the gym at 6:00 am, if not earlier. She taught her students and her husband not only in words, but also by example, to not say “I’ll try”, but rather “I will”.
Holly will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. May her memory inspire us to embrace the outdoors, pursue our passions, and make a positive impact on the lives of others, just as she did.
A celebration of Holly’s life will be held at City View Mortuary on Saturday, May 11 at 3:00 to 5:00. The mortuary is located at 1001 East 11th Ave, Salt Lake City, UT 84103, (801) 363-7065. If you can’t make it in person, please join via this Zoom link. The Zoom Passcode is: Holly

Posted at 21:17h, 09 MayHolly has been an awesome friend for a really long time! We taught Adapted Physical Education together during the week and skied and hiked on the weekends. When I decided to teach English in China for a number of years, Holly was more than happy to welcome me into her home so I’d have a place to live while home during the summer. She shared anything and everything…her friends, her knowledge, her joy of life. She even shared equipment from her knee surgery rehab with me when I had my knee surgery! I hope I can be a friend of others as she was with me.
