Reed
Rossbach
May 13, 1971 – June 9, 2026
Reed Rossbach passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 9, 2026, after a long and difficult battle with cancer. He was born on May 13, 1971, in Dayton, Ohio. He was the beloved husband of Theresa Lowe and best friend to Aloysius Shearer Rossbach, his frisky Airedale. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother, Christopher Rossbach, and wife, Suzanne Fanger; his father, Dennis Rossbach; and his mother, Dianne Rossbach.
Reed graduated from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, where he found great joy in the field of Theatre Arts, later building his nearly 30-year career at University of Utah's Pioneer Theatre Company in Salt Lake City. Throughout his life, he had a great passion for learning and for bringing his imagination to life.
"He could take the blunt and the physical, transforming them into a stage full of fantasy, both ephemeral and otherworldly. He was an architect and craftsman of ideas and made them flesh." (Max Robinson)
He filled his time with artistic and athletic endeavors: traveling internationally; creating art from wood and steel; actively playing soccer wherever he could join a team; mentoring new soccer buddies; kiteboarding in Oregon; wrestling; rock climbing; listening to music by Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, and Patti Smith; brewing and sampling very tasty beer; roasting fresh chile; and generally loving life.
As a lifelong soccer aficionado, he was a founding member of the Rogue Cavalier Brigade, a supporters' group for Real Salt Lake, as well as an avid fan of Newcastle United F.C..
"He's the kind of guy who would take a shot of Jameson, pound a pint of Guinness, and then quote Shakespeare outside with a lit cigarette between his lips." (Ammon Baker)
He impacted many lives, was deeply loved, and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers please donate to Pioneer Theater Company in memory of Reed Rossbach.
