Rosemary Klokow, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, in Draper, Utah, surrounded by her loved ones.
Our beloved Rose was born to Pieter and Rose Vermaak on June 21, 1940, in Bloemfontein, South Africa, where she was raised and spent approximately half of her life. She is still lovingly remembered there by friends and family to this day. Later, she immigrated to the United States, where she lived for the remainder of her life. She deeply loved being part of this country and appreciated all that it offered.
In her youth, Rosemary enjoyed singing, acting, dancing, spending time outdoors, and participating in sports, including field hockey, tennis, and synchronized swimming. Throughout her life, she embraced a healthy and active lifestyle, often walking miles to and from work and enjoying the sunshine, especially at the beach.
Rosemary will be remembered for her love of youth and her unwavering advocacy for children. She had a genuine appreciation for diversity and welcomed people from all walks of life with warmth and acceptance. Rose was authentic, one of a kind, and full of personality. She was spunky, strong-willed, and, over the course of her life, learned to confidently speak her mind, a quality that those who knew her came to admire and love.
She will always be our “Dancing Queen.”
Known affectionately as “Miss Rose,” she dedicated more than 22 years of her life to teaching pre-kindergarten children. She found great joy in helping young children learn and grow and was known for her patience, kindness, and loving spirit. Through her work, she touched the lives of countless children and families.
Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and dear friends. Her love for them was constant, strong, and unconditional.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rosemary found strength, purpose, and community in her faith. The members of her congregation became a second family to her, offering countless hours of friendship, service, and support throughout her life. She could often be found sitting in her red chair in the front yard, chatting with neighbors, friends, and even strangers passing by.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her beloved son, Noel De Waal.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Lidia (Robert) Snyder, Tanya (Jon) Brown, and Natalie (Ryan) Evershed; her beloved sister, Sheila; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy.
Though her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in the memories she created, the faith she lived, and the love she gave so freely and abundantly. Rose was an inspiration and an example to all who knew her, showing that the journey is never complete and that we can always continue to learn, grow, and become better versions of ourselves.
A visitation and time of remembrance will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 p.m. at the meetinghouse located at 11626 South 300 East, Draper, Utah 84020.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many friends, neighbors, church members, caregivers, and loved ones who offered companionship, service, and support to Rosemary throughout her life. Their kindness and friendship brought great comfort and joy to both Rosemary and her family.
We will miss you and love you, Rose, “Big Time!” ❤️
