17 May Stanford Von Nielson
Stanford Von Nielson, 65, of Logan, Utah, unexpectedly passed away on May 12, 2020 in Draper, Utah.
Stan was born in Logan, Utah to Reed LaVon Nielson and Betty La Rue Evans on January 19, 1955. After graduating from Logan High School, he was called to serve in the Texas, San Antonio mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon returning home he completed his undergraduate degree at Utah State University and then went on to obtain a law degree at Pepperdine in Malibu, California. After many summers spent working as the son of a brick mason in Logan, Stan decided it was time to forge his own path as a lawyer in Salt Lake City, where he would raise his family, who he loved very much. Later, Stan moved into a career in the financial services industry for several large banks, which allowed him to use his considerable gifts and talents in his work.
Stan loved to travel. He especially loved the Caribbean and visited many of the different islands in his lifetime. He loved to travel and explore new cultures and food, and was always curious.
Stan loved his church and served faithfully in many callings over the years. One of his favorite callings was teaching the Elders Quorum. He had a magnetic personality and people were drawn to him. He loved telling jokes and was a wonderful storyteller, he loved making people laugh. No restaurant was too full to talk his way into, no line too long for him to bribe his way to the front of. He was a people person through and through.
Stan is preceded in death by his brother, Scott, and his parents, Betty and Reed, and is survived by his children, Jay (Jessie), Eric (Chelsey), Paige Thole (David), Tiffany Smith, Tony, Cole Castleton (Mary), Chase (Sam), and Cheyenne Twitchell (Colton), 13 grandchildren, his sister Peggy and brother Matt.
To protect high-risk family members, a private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Logan City Cemetery for family and close friends. Thank you for understanding.
Services are under the direction of City View Mortuary.
