Verna Steck Van Etten, of West Jordan, Utah passed away peacefully August 31, 2016 at the age of 81.  She was born November 30, 1934 in Midvale, Utah to Fred and Neoma Steck and was the 5th of 9 children.  She married the love of her life Kenneth Van Etten on June 27, 1959.  He preceded her in death in 1991.  She has missed him every day since then and it is comforting to know they are enjoying their long awaited reunion.  They had one daughter, Melanie and one granddaughter Mollie who they loved and adored.  She was an amazing mother and grandmother.  Verna loved working and worked at Consolidated Freightways, Christensen Diamond and Waterworks Equipment.  She was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #67 in Salt Lake City and was named Auxiliary Mother in the Eagle Year 1998/1999 for which she was very proud and dedicated.  She enjoyed doing volunteer work through the Eagles for many years.

Verna is survived by her daughter Melanie (Dirk), Granddaughters Mollie and Nichelle, her "other daughter" and special niece Christina Sidwell-Hauser, her siblings Jack (Jerry), Paul (Karen) and Carl, Merlene (Andy), Sharon (Frank) and sister-in-law Margie as well as many nieces and nephews she loved very much.  She was preceded in death by her husband Van, parents, siblings Norma, Lorna and Bud.

Graveside services will be held at noon on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Manti City Cemetery.  Luncheon will follow afterwards.
