Obituary

Warren Brent Avery age 83 passed away on April 24,2026 at Gunnison Valley Hospital in Gunnison, Utah due to natural causes of aging. He was born on September 10, 1942 at the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ardonna Anderson and John Williams Avery.

Warren Brent grew up in Salt Lake City, raised by very democratic parents, he had 2 older brothers, John and Allen. He met Bonnie Jean Davidson at East High school. They married and had 3 children Katharine, Adam and Timothy, they divorced after 6 years.

Warren was a scholar and a philosopher. He was extremely well-educated and had many degrees and encouraged all to pursue higher education. He was dedicated to the study of his genealogy and his connection to God through all the great philosophers. During his life he lived in Utah, California and Hawaii. He came back to Utah to live with and care for his elder mother and then again to live with and care for his older brother, John until his passing. He wrote a novel called Alabam about a traveling circus. He also wrote poetry and many briefs to the high and low courts fighting for rights of the underprivileged. He was an avid reader studying the likes of Martin Luther, Churchill and Socrates. His lifelong dream was to live in an intentional community but because of his struggle with mental illness this did not come to fruition.

In his last 12 years, he found a wonderful community in Gunnison, Utah where he bought a house and lived by himself. The community of Gunnison treated him so kindly helping him with a lot of his everyday needs, right up until his passing on April 24, 2026. His daughter was by his bedside as he passed in peace.

He was cremated at City View Mortuary in Salt Lake City on May 1st.

Fly with the angels dear one! You are free! May your intentional community catch you on the other side. A hui ho, we shall meet again!
