03 Jan Wilma LaVon Whiting Diaz
1928 ~ 2019
Wilma LaVon Whiting Diaz left us on January 2, 2019.
She was born on June 17, 1928 in SLC, Utah to William and Margret Whiting.
Wilma was a great example to her family and friends. Her generosity, thoughtfulness and kindness brought sunshine to all who knew her. Wilma was a fantastic cook who could make a feast out of nothing and who constantly served others.
Willi would always make you laugh at the things she would say or do. Her superstitious ways were amusing.
She had fond memories of working as a waitress at Makoff’s Tearoom. She loved everyone she worked with and loved to tell stories about her time there.
Mother will forever be remembered as “THE YARD SALE QUEEN.” She loved Saturdays and all the friends she made while going from yard to yard. She could always find that special something that you had been wanting. Mother would say… “Look, it’s brand new! Its still got the tags on it!” Her open heart, outgoing nature and overwhelming generosity touched all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert M. Diaz. It was love at first sight when she met and married her handsome sailor within a week of knowing him. He was 17 she was 16.
She is survived by her children Bobbie (Ref) Sausedo , Jackie (Tom) Harvey, Lanny (Jean) Diaz, Herb(Janet)Diaz and Prim (Skip) McDonnell. She had 14 grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
