Dorothy S. Krause

1938 – 2021

Salt Lake City, Utah

Her name was Dorothy S. Krause. But to those who were blessed to have known this beautiful woman, she was called “Dottie” or simply “Dot”.

She was a mother; a grandmother; a friend; a healer…That’s what she was brought here to do. And she did it well…with grace and ease…and sometimes with a dose of tough love.

On October 5, 2021, at the age of 83, Dottie peacefully left this world better than she found it. When the time came, she was in the presence of loved ones and she passed with a smile on her face.

Dottie was born to Clarence Schronen and Vera Bain on March 13, 1938 in Salt Lake City, UT. Years later the family moved to California so that Dottie could better fight a battle with rheumatic fever as a child. Beating that illness was the first indication to the resilience that this woman would demonstrate throughout her life all the way until her final breath.

In 1965 Dottie graduated with her nursing degree. She spent the next 35 years using these gifts to care for others while working at the University of Utah Hospital and the State Health Department until she retired in 2000. Following retirement she spent her days in blissful relaxation with her life partner of 38 years, Fred Busby.

She was a connoisseur of apple pies, crossword puzzles and QVC deals. She had a giant heart, a open mind and a fantastic sense of style. Dottie’s legacy will live on as she is survived by her daughters Kim and Linda, and grandchildren Tony and Kelsey.

A gathering to celebrate Dottie’s life will be held on the evening of Friday, October 15 in Salt Lake City.
