29 Aug Wayne Steven Stewart
Wayne Steven Stewart passed away peacefully at home on August 15, 2022 and was reunited with his wife, father, and sister.
Wayne was born to Loris and Aurelia Stewart January 16, 1935.. As a young child, Wayne lived in the basement apartment below his grandparents spending many summers in the Blanding, Utah area with cousins. Riding along in the logging trucks with his uncles, he said it was during these summers that he learned to drive. In 1951, his family moved to Powell, WY. It was here he met and fell in love with Constance Ann Jackson. They were married in 1954.The first years of their marriage took them to Sidney, MT, Caldwell, ID and Provo, UT before settling down in Salt Lake City.
Wayne had a few businesses before driving an 18 wheeler for many years. While driving, he would take his children and grandchildren on the road. He said the most beautiful sight in the whole country was “coming around the bend down Parley’s Canyon and seeing the lights of Salt Lake City sparkling like a jewelry box”, he knew he was home “anywhere west of the Mississippi”. Eventually, he started a trucking company, employing 30-40 people at any given time. Although this company didn’t last, that didn’t stop him from trying again.
After Connie passed in 2017, Wayne continued to live in their home with the assistance of his daughter, Donna, granddaughter, Jessica Smith and Patrick Davies, (her significant other), along with his ward family. He is survived by his children, Garry W. Stewart (Jalayne), Denis L. Stewart (Nancy), Deborah S. Dubek, Donna L. Stewart (Dallas), Kelly C. Thomas (Terry), Teri R. Springer (Glenn); too many (step)grandchildren and (step)great grandchildren to count; sister, Juli Kosta (David), brother, David Stewart (Izumi) along with many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Connie Stewart, daughter Laurel A. Vasquez (David-living), sister Lorita Vail, and grandson David Aaron Vasquez, Jr.
To Jessica and Patrick, thank you for the many years of help with Connie and Wayne.
To Donna, thank you for being there for Dad, we are forever grateful for your dedication.
